So Sunset has Empathy/Telepathy/Memory based power. It requires her to be in close proximity to her geode and generally requires her to touch a person. (Though if the geode is supercharged by external forces, she can bypass the touch requirement, but it also means she can't shut it off.)

Upon contact, Sunset's eyes will flash white for a second as the power works on the speed of thought. The ability will let her get surface thoughts, emotions, and memories.

This power operates on one of two ways.

One is Sunset is looking for information. Thus whatever thoughts/emotions/memories will tell her what she wants to know will come up so she has her answer.

Two is when someone is actively having a problem when they make contact with Sunset. If they're not in distress in anyway, nothing happens, but if they're fretting or mentally screaming about it, Sunset will start getting things. Brushing contact will get just the surface thoughts. A full on touch for more than a second will dump all the memories necessary for Sunset to understand the current problem.

Keep in mind, this runs on the speed of thought. On the outside, the most people will catch is her eyes whiting out for a moment and any changes in her demeanor. They don't notice much time passing at all even if Sunset is getting several minutes worth of memories.

It may also be possible for her to get memories from objects, but that's in the special that's still in Ukrainian, so more on that later.

NOW! Sunset usually only has this power in a low magic world against people who aren't used to magic. Her geode is also away from the other geodes which affects how well it's powered.

So her powers in Aurora are more finicky. Whether because they hit a magical wall, the magical auras in the area, or just because her geode is shorting out on it's own, her magic won't always work.

I am cool with it in a limited capacity, ie Naeva is actually chock full of magical defenses and is on some serious high fantasy/castlevania-esque op bullshittery.

SO the way I'm gonna roll with it is: She'll never be able to pick it up on accident, but if she tries she can probably pick stuff up, but Naeva will notice if someone's poking around in there.

there is, however, a way around that that has it's own special permissions, because I am ridiculous.

Eliza’s magic field protects against intrusive mind magic. shimmer won’t pick up anything on accident, and deliberate attempts will alert eliza and DISPLEASE her familiars.

80H has magical defenses but i am totally willing and wanting to play with this. she might get like bits of surface thoughts when 80H is like screaming about them mentally or something

we'll play looking deliberately by ear. i don't wanna write it off entirely but it would take like delicate framing because 80H is, y'know, 80H and not about that life.

That is also the fun of the geode just kind of sputtering at times without the others around, but also the fact the Geode is part of a power source that has both ripped holes in reality and healed them in turn. It's got a lot of power behind it when it's working right.

So can have it fluctuate however we want for fun times.

Yes to both of mine! Though poke and ask first. Neither Crow nor Rin have any particular mental barriers to protect from it, though Crow's more likely to notice simply by already being used to telepathic/empathic connections. Though of note, Rin is emotionally volatile and might react poorly, depending on circumstances and how things are handled.

Loki probably has magical protections on some level and definitely has huge triggers when it comes to invading his mind or finding out his secrets, and Sunset can do both, so. Definitely a lot of talking it out OOCly before doing it ICly. Even though it'll probably be good for him in the long run

It usually is because Sunset can't ignore a problem she understands fully, IT'S A PROBLEM and why she's agreed to help possibly murder a dark god and help a demon have an Honest Conversation with his host.

Life is hard for an empath.

But yessss, will do the talking and figuring out what might happen, probably after some Good Bonding.

Klarion is naturally magical, it's in his blood, so likely small brushes will be bounced back at her, even if not intended. However, I think if she has a conversation with him about it, he'd be glad to generally share his memories and feelings. Unless of course he's trying to get away with some mischief, then she might have to chase him down lol!

But yeah, I'm willing to play around with this. I'd like the idea of the first time it happening being maybe a little shocking for them both a bit? Like she catches that he's got magic static just naturally in the way or something, and then they can roll with it. :3
